Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour The backbone of our biscuits, providing that essential fluffiness.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder This is what gets our biscuits puffing up perfectly.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt A little seasoning is key for enhancing all the flavors.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled For rich, buttery goodness.
  • 1 cup 7-Up soda The secret ingredient that adds a delightful zing and tenderness!
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Optional for a slightly sweeter biscuit.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) for a golden, flaky texture.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the chilled butter and work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the 7-Up and gently fold the mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the biscuits tender.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, pat down to about 1-inch thick, and cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass rim.
Baking
  1. Place biscuits on a greased baking sheet, leaving space in between, and bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. Let them cool slightly before serving warm with butter or jam.

Notes

Chill the butter for flakier biscuits, and don't overmix the dough. Experiment with flavors like herbs or cheese for variations.
