  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Use avocado oil for a higher smoke point.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Regular paprika may be used for a milder flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Can be swapped with 1 clove minced garlic for fresh flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground brightens the taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch Use arrowroot for paleo swaps.
Optional Finishing Ingredients
  • chopped parsley For garnish.
  • squeeze of lime Adds fresh flavor.
  • light dusting of cinnamon For a sweet twist.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for optimal crispiness.
  2. Peel (if desired) and cut the sweet potatoes into 1/4 to 1/2-inch fries. Pat them dry using a clean towel.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the fries with cornstarch, then drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Coat each fry evenly using your hands to ensure spices cling properly.
Cooking
  1. Arrange fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  2. Cook for 7 to 9 minutes, then shake the basket or toss the fries with tongs.
  3. Continue cooking for another 7 to 9 minutes, monitoring closely in the last 2 minutes to prevent burning.
  4. Once cooked, transfer fries to a bowl or sheet pan, season with additional salt, and garnish with parsley or lime if desired.

Notes

For a sweet variation, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and serve with yogurt. Serve alongside dishes like air-fried fajitas for a complete meal.
