  • 2 cups marinara sauce Homemade or jarred; ensure it’s your favorite.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Can swap with cottage cheese for a healthier option.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Can swap with provolone for a sharper kick.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For a salty, nutty finish.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning Oregano, basil, or a mix adds flavor depth.
  • to taste salt and pepper Essential for bringing all those flavors to life.
  • for garnish fresh basil or parsley Brightens the dish visually and flavor-wise.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the tortellini in a pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions, reducing cooking time by 1-2 minutes as it will continue to cook in the oven.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked tortellini, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, and Italian seasoning. Stir gently until well mixed.
Assembly
  1. Spread half of the tortellini mixture in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella and half of the Parmesan on top.
  2. Layer the remaining tortellini mixture and top with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding sautéed vegetables, cooked Italian sausage, or spices for an extra kick. Serve with a fresh green salad and warm garlic bread for a complete meal.
