  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle in the chili powder and cumin, allowing the spices to toast slightly for a minute.
  5. Add the crushed tomatoes, black beans, and pinto beans to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  6. Season generously with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  7. Let the chili simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more chili powder if desired.
  9. Serve hot with your choice of toppings.
