Ingredients

For the patties
  • 1 lb Ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
  • 1 tbsp Taco seasoning Store-bought or homemade for depth
For the toppings
  • 1 cup Lettuce (shredded for crunch)
  • 1 cup Tomatoes (diced for freshness)
  • 1/2 cup Pickles (sliced) Adding tanginess
  • 4 slices American cheese Melts beautifully
  • 1/2 cup Burger sauce See below for a creamy recipe or use Big Mac-inspired sauce
  • 8 pieces Taco shells Soft or crispy, your choice

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by washing and chopping the lettuce and tomatoes. Set them aside.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and taco seasoning. Smash the beef into the skillet, allowing it to form crispy edges. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
  2. Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking, covering the skillet with a lid to allow it to melt beautifully.
  3. While the patties finish cooking, warm your taco shells in the oven or microwave.
Assembly
  1. Start with a warm shell, add a smashed burger patty, and layer on the lettuce, diced tomatoes, pickles, and a drizzle of burger sauce.
  2. Top with extra sauce or your favorite condiments, and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Consider using turkey or plant-based ground meat for a healthier alternative. Serve alongside a salad or cheeseburger macaroni for a hearty side.
