Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces Chicken Thighs or Breasts Use thighs for richer flavor or breasts for a lighter option.
  • 2 tablespoons Freshly ground Black Pepper Freshly ground for a bold kick.
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Low-sodium options work too!
  • 4 cloves Garlic Use fresh cloves for best flavor.
  • 2 stalks Green Onions Chopped for garnish and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch To coat the chicken for crispiness.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil For frying; can substitute with olive oil.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 piece Red Bell Pepper For added color and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Adds a nice zesty note.
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil For a richer flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the chicken with soy sauce, black pepper, and minced garlic. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Chop the green onions and any other vegetables you wish to add, such as bell peppers.
Cooking
  1. Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated chicken and toss until evenly coated.
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the pan in a single layer. Cook until golden brown and crispy, approximately 6-7 minutes per side.
  4. Toss in the green onions and any other vegetables you’re using; cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  5. Serve by spooning the chicken and pan juices over rice or noodles, garnishing with extra black pepper and green onions.

Notes

You can adjust the black pepper to taste for more or less heat. Add sliced chili peppers for a spicier version.
