Ingredients

For the filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 8 oz crab meat fresh or imitation
  • 1 cup green onions finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
For assembly
  • 1 pkg wonton wrappers or egg roll wrappers
  • oil for frying neutral oil like canola or vegetable

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place a teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper over the filling, and pinch to seal carefully.
Cooking
  1. In a deep pan, heat about two inches of oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, gently place a few Crab Rangoon Bombs in the oil. Fry until they’re golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Serving
  1. Remove the bombs from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with a spicy dipping sauce if desired.

Notes

For a baked version, brush the bombs with olive oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 10-12 minutes until golden. You can also experiment with different types of cheese or use sautéed vegetables for a vegetarian option.
