Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spatula until it’s fully cooked.
- Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes until they release their moisture and become tender.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir until well blended.
- Pour the creamy sauce over the beef and mushrooms, mixing well until everything is generously coated. Transfer this mixture into a greased casserole dish.
- If using cheese, sprinkle it over the top of the casserole.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Once baked to perfection, remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Can make ahead of time and bake before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C).
