Preparation
- Begin by boiling water in a pot. Add a pinch of salt and pour in the orzo. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, but be careful not to burn it!
Cooking
- Toss in the broccoli florets and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet, cooking for about 3-5 minutes until pink and cooked through.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into a creamy sauce.
- Introduce the cooked orzo into the skillet, stirring everything together until perfectly combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serving
- Plate your creamy orzo shrimp and broccoli immediately, garnishing with extra Parmesan and fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For variations, consider adding red pepper flakes for heat, spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for added flavor, or switch shrimp for chicken, adjusting cooking time as necessary.
