Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 oz Pasta (any shape) Penne or fettuccine are great options. Consider whole grain or gluten-free.
Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 can Canned diced tomatoes Fire-roasted for extra flavor.
  • 1 cup Heavy cream For richness and creaminess.
  • 4 cloves Garlic (fresh, minced) Fresh garlic is preferred for aroma.
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil For sautéing garlic.
  • 1 tbsp Basil (fresh or dried) Enhances the sauce.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (optional) Adds savory finish.

Method
 

Cooking Pasta
  1. Boil a large pot of salted water. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Pour in canned diced tomatoes (with juices) and stir. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat and stir in heavy cream. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes until creamy.
  4. Toss the cooked pasta into the skillet with the sauce. Add reserved pasta water to achieve desired consistency.
  5. Season with basil, salt, and pepper to taste. Serve hot topped with Parmesan if desired.
