Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, half of the mozzarella, salt, and pepper. Stir until well-coated.
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture. Sprinkle a layer of Parmesan cheese, then pour the remaining ziti on top. Finish with the rest of the mozzarella.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the ziti rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
To add a vegetarian twist, include spinach or zucchini. For a heartier option, add ground beef or sausage. Enjoy with garlic bread and salad!
