Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey/plant-based alternative) Choose high-quality meat for maximum flavor.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Use Italian breadcrumbs for extra flavor or gluten-free options if needed.
  • 1 large egg For a vegan option, try flaxseed meal mixed with water.
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped) Can be replaced with onion powder if short on time.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Minced garlic powder can be used for convenience.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Opt for a sweet and tangy variety or smoky chipotle sauce for heat.
  • to taste salt and pepper A sprinkle of cayenne can add heat.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into bite-sized meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Place the meatballs on a lined baking sheet, ensuring space between each for even cooking.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  2. Remove from the oven and toss the meatballs in a mixing bowl with barbecue sauce to coat evenly.
  3. Return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes to make the sauce sticky and caramelized.
Serving
  1. Serve and enjoy! Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

These meatballs are great for meal prep; store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Tips: Chill the meatballs for 30 minutes before baking for better shape retention and use a cookie scoop for uniform sizes.
