Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread with diced vegetables and cooked meat. Toss gently to mix.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until fully combined. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and meat layer, letting everything soak for a few minutes. For maximum flavor, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish, then sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  6. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed up and golden brown.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before cutting into squares. Serve hot.
