  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use low-sodium for a healthier option
  • 2 tablespoons honey Or maple syrup for a vegan twist
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds wonderful depth; replace with olive oil if needed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic enhances the dish’s flavor beautifully
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated For a zingy kick
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Helps create that delicious crispy coating
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds Toasted for more crunch and flavor
  • Chopped green onions For garnish and a pop of color

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Add chicken pieces and marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated chicken and toss until each piece is well-coated.
Cooking
  1. Heat a splash of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add the chicken pieces in a single layer.
  2. Cook for 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.
  3. Once the chicken is cooked, add the remaining marinade to the pan and let it simmer until thickened.
  4. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the chicken and garnish with green onions before serving.

Notes

Leftover sesame chicken can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days. To reheat, microwave with a splash of water or warm gently in a skillet.
