For the Wontons
  • 1 package Wonton wrappers
  • 1/2 pound Ground pork or chicken (or tofu for vegetarian option)
  • 2 stalks Green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Or garlic powder if in a pinch
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
For the Soup
  • 4 cups Chicken or vegetable broth The heart of the soup
  • 1 cup Vegetables (e.g., bok choy or spinach) Adds color and nutrients
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil For drizzling at the end

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, and soy sauce. Mix well until combined.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place about a teaspoon of filling in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold in half to create a triangle, and pinch to seal.
Cooking
  1. In a large pot, bring the chicken or vegetable broth to a gentle boil. Add a splash of soy sauce for extra flavor.
  2. Gently drop the prepared wontons into the boiling broth and let them simmer for about 6-8 minutes or until they float to the top.
  3. Toss in your choice of vegetables (bok choy or spinach works beautifully) and cook for another 2-3 minutes until just wilted.
  4. Drizzle a little sesame oil over the soup, ladle into bowls, and garnish with additional green onions if desired.

Notes

Make it festive with dumplings for special occasions. Spice it up with chili oil or sliced jalapeƱos. For a healthier version, use lean ground turkey and low-sodium broth.
