Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 12 medium-sized soft dinner rolls Ideal for that pillow-like texture.
  • 12 ounces sliced ham Feel free to use turkey or chicken for a lighter take.
  • 12 slices cheese Swiss, cheddar, or your personal favorite for that melty goodness.
Flavor Enhancers
  • 1/2 cup butter Because butter elevates everything.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Adds a tangy kick.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder To enhance the flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds Optional, but adds a nice crunch and visual appeal.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the dinner rolls in half and lay them on a baking sheet, cut side up.
  3. Layer the ham on the bottom half of each roll, followed by a slice of cheese. Drizzle Dijon mustard on the ham for extra flavor if desired.
  4. Gently replace the tops of the rolls to form little sandwiches.
  5. Melt the butter and stir in garlic powder and poppy seeds.
Baking
  1. Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the sliders.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melty and the tops are golden brown.
  3. Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before slicing apart and serving warm.

Notes

Consider adding sautéed onions, jalapeños, or tomatoes for extra flavor. You could also mix in Italian herbs or crushed red pepper flakes for a little kick. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze assembled uncooked sliders.
