  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese, thinly sliced Melts beautifully and gives that signature nutty taste.
Butter Mixture
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted For brushing and building a glossy, golden top.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Adds a little tang; swap for whole-grain mustard if you like texture.
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds Optional, for a bakery-style finish.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder To season the butter mixture.
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder Brings balance to the savory profile.
  • to taste Freshly ground black pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment for easy cleanup.
  2. Slice the slider rolls horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact as a connected sheet if you like tidy pull-apart sliders. Layer the bottom halves in the pan.
  3. Place a generous layer of thinly sliced ham over the bottom rolls, folding as needed to ensure even coverage.
  4. Top the ham with Swiss cheese slices, covering the bread edge to edge.
Assembly
  1. Mix melted butter, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, poppy seeds, and a crack of black pepper.
  2. Brush half of this mixture over the tops of the bottom layer.
  3. Finish with the top halves of the rolls, brush with the remaining butter mixture, and cover the pan tightly with foil.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12 minutes covered, then remove foil and bake 3–6 minutes more until the tops are golden and the cheese is fully melty.
  2. Let rest a few minutes before slicing into sliders. Serve warm.
