- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter until it’s bubbling.
- Add the chopped onion, sautéing until it’s translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute, just until fragrant.
- Gradually whisk in 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour until smooth, stirring constantly for about 2 minutes.
- Slowly pour in 2 cups of beef broth while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
- Add your beef bouillon, salt, pepper, and thyme. Bring to a gentle simmer and let it cook for another 5–10 minutes until thickened.
- Taste your gravy and adjust seasoning as needed.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half the butter with Greek yogurt. You can also add herbs like rosemary or a splash of red wine for added flavor.
