Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 8 oz Dark Chocolate Choose high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Butter Provides creaminess and helps the bars hold together.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar This will sweeten the base, balancing the bitterness of the chocolate.
Add-ins
  • 1 cup Pistachios These nuts add a wonderful crunch and can be substituted with almonds.
  • 1 cup Kataifi A traditional pastry dough; can substitute with shredded phyllo if necessary.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking dish by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. If using frozen kataifi, thaw it according to package instructions and lightly fluff it with a fork.
Melting and Mixing
  1. In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pot of simmering water or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
  2. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar and mix until dissolved. Fold in the pistachios.
Layering and Baking
  1. Spread half of the kataifi evenly in the prepared baking dish. Pour the chocolate mixture on top, then top with the remaining kataifi, pressing it down slightly.
  2. Bake for 25 minutes until golden and fragrant.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

For a nutty twist, try incorporating different nuts like hazelnuts. For a dairy-free option, use dairy-free chocolate and vegan butter.
