Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Italian sausage mild or spicy, or turkey sausage for a lighter version
  • 2-3 Bell peppers (mixed colors) red, yellow, and green for flavor and color
  • 1 medium Onion adds sweetness when caramelized
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced) elevates the dish's flavor
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning for an authentic Italian flavor
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • to garnish Fresh basil optional for added flavor and color

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Chop the bell peppers and onion into bite-sized pieces and mince the garlic.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up into smaller pieces. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Toss in the onions and bell peppers. Stir well to combine everything. Cook until the veggies are tender, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir for another 2-3 minutes.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh basil. Serve hot.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month.
