Preparation
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it starts to foam. You'll know it's ready when it has that delicious, nutty aroma.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté it for about 30 seconds, just until it’s fragrant—be careful not to burn it!
- Toss in the shrimp, seasoning them with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
- Squeeze in the juice and zest of the lemon, stirring to coat the shrimp in that bright, citrusy goodness. Let it cook for an additional minute.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley or cilantro, and serve hot. The dish is best enjoyed right away when it’s at its most vibrant.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, add a splash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Toss in some cherry tomatoes or spinach towards the end of cooking for added color and nutrition. For a richer dish, stir in a splash of heavy cream or a dollop of cream cheese once the shrimp are cooked.
