Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef A lean option will keep this dish healthy and flavorful.
  • 4 slices bacon Use thick-cut bacon for an indulgent treat.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese A classic choice, but feel free to explore other cheeses for a unique flavor twist.
  • 1 cup heavy cream For a creamy consistency that binds everything together.
  • 4 large eggs These will help set the casserole.
  • 1 tablespoon mustard Adds a nice tang to the flavor profile.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Essential for bringing out all the flavors!
Optional Toppings
  • to taste Chopped fresh parsley or green onions For a burst of freshness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and drain on a paper towel, then chop it into pieces.
  3. In the same skillet, using the fat from the bacon, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, eggs, mustard, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth, then add in the browned beef and bacon, along with half the shredded cheese.
  5. Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish and pour the mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
Cooking
  1. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the cheese is bubbling.

Notes

You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese. Top with sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor.
