Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour The backbone of our pancakes, providing the fluffy texture.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar A hint of sweetness to brighten up your morning.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Helps our pancakes rise to perfection.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Adds extra lift for wonderfully airy pancakes.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor and balances the sweetness.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup buttermilk Gives the pancakes a rich flavor and fluffy texture. Substitute with regular milk mixed with vinegar if needed.
  • 1 large egg Binds everything together while adding protein.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Essential for flavor and a golden crust.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds wonderful aroma.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well blended.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; it’s okay if a few lumps remain.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a touch of butter to create a non-stick surface.
  2. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot surface for each pancake.
  3. Once bubbles form on the surface, flip the pancakes with a spatula. Cook until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Keep pancakes warm in the oven while you finish cooking the batch. Serve with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For added texture, incorporate chopped nuts or fruit like blueberries. Substitute half the flour with whole wheat for a healthier option. Don’t forget to keep the pancakes warm in the oven while you finish cooking!
