- In a large skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until soft and fragrant.
- Push the onions to the side and add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula, cooking until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes. Drain off excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure every morsel is coated with flavors.
- Lower the heat and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
- While the meat simmers, warm your taco shells or tortillas according to package instructions.
- Fill each taco shell with the beef mixture, and pile on your chosen toppings.
