Ingredients

For the meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground meat (beef, pork, or chicken) Mix meats for layered flavor or use turkey for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs Panko adds extra crispiness!
  • 1 large Egg Can use a flax egg for a vegan alternative.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (fresh or minced) Essential for depth of flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Fresh ginger imparts warmth; powdered ginger works in a pinch.
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce Use low-sodium or tamari for gluten-free.
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar Honey is a great substitute if needed.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil Can swap with olive oil if necessary.
For the sauce and garnish
  • 1 tbsp Green onions For garnish, adding a fresh crunch.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds For visual appeal.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and a sprinkle of sesame oil. Mix by hand.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cooking
  1. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
  2. While the meatballs bake, prepare the sauce by mixing soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil in a small saucepan. Simmer until thickened.
  3. Once the meatballs are done, toss them in the sauce until fully coated. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
