- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
- Whisk together the eggs and milk in a large bowl. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, beating until smooth.
- Layer the bread cubes evenly in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
- Spread the cooked sausage atop the bread, followed by a generous sprinkle of cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture over the layers and gently press down with a spatula to help everything blend.
- Top with any remaining cheese, then cover the dish with foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes covered, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
Feeling adventurous? Add bell peppers, spinach, or sautéed onions for extra nutrition. Fresh herbs like chives or parsley make a great topping. For a spicy kick, add jalapeños or hot sauce.
