Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the sausage from the skillet and drain excess fat. Add diced onion and garlic to the skillet, stirring until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, sautéed onions and garlic, diced potatoes, and green beans. Pour in the heavy cream, sprinkle with cheese, and season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, remove the foil and return the dish to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the top is bubbly and golden.
Notes
For healthier options, substitute turkey sausage or add extra vegetables. Allow the casserole to rest for 5-10 minutes after baking to set up.
