Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs round steak Becomes incredibly tender when slow-cooked.
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes Adds moisture and a rich, tangy flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped Sweetens the sauce and contributes depth.
  • 1 each bell pepper, chopped (red or green) Freshness and color elevate the dish.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For that aromatic kick.
  • 1 cup beef broth Keeps the beef moist and enhances flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce A secret ingredient for umami goodness.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for seasoning.

Method

Preparation
  1. Season the round steak generously with salt and pepper. Then, chop your vegetables: onions, bell peppers, and mince the garlic.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, sear the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned (this adds flavor but is optional).
  3. Place the browned steak at the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers on top.
  4. Pour the diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic over the meat and vegetables.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-5 hours.
  6. Once the steak is beautifully tender and the aroma fills your kitchen, it’s time to serve. Shred the steak lightly with forks or slice it—both ways are delicious!
