  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the oats simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. After 10 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Spoon the oats into bowls and top with fresh fruit, nuts, or a sprinkle of shredded coconut.
