  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar Adds sweetness to balance the savory notes.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Enhances the overall dish with a nutty flavor.
  • to taste bell peppers and onions (optional) Add colorful veggies; substitute for zucchini or cherry tomatoes.
  • as needed skewers Bamboo or metal; soak bamboo skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces for even grilling.
  2. In a bowl, mix teriyaki sauce, honey, and sesame oil. Add chicken and marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Thread marinated chicken onto skewers, alternating with bell peppers and onions.
Grilling
  1. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high and lightly grease it.
  2. Grill skewers for about 4-5 minutes on each side, basting with extra marinade in the last few minutes.
  3. Remove from grill and let skewers rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to add pineapple for a tropical twist, mix sriracha in for a spicy kick, or use tofu for a vegetarian option. Serve with rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
