Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 9 cups crispy rice cereal Light and airy for the perfect crunch.
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (or almond butter) Binds the snack and adds rich nuttiness; use sunflower seed butter for a nut-free alternative.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melts into silky smoothness, coating every little crunch.
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips (or candy melts in pink or red) For that signature sweet glaze.
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar For the dusty, irresistible finish.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Brightens the sweetness.
  • 1 pinch sea salt Balances the flavors.
  • festive red and pink sprinkles (optional) To make it celebratory.

Method

Preparation
  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and peanut butter together, stirring until velvety smooth. Stir in vanilla and a pinch of sea salt.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the white chocolate chips until completely melted and glossy.
  4. Pour the crispy rice cereal into a very large mixing bowl. Pour the warm chocolate-peanut mixture over the cereal and gently fold with a spatula until every piece is coated.
  5. Transfer the coated cereal to a large zip-top bag in batches, add the powdered sugar, close the bag, and shake vigorously until coated.
  6. Spread the finished muddy buddies on the prepared baking sheet to cool and set. Once cool, break apart any clumps.
